Digital Learning Project & Production Manager

Role Overview

To lead and coordinate the successful delivery of an 18-month e-learning programme, bringing together people, processes and digital learning production to significantly scale the organisation’s e-learning portfolio. The role provides project and production oversight across multiple e-learning workstreams, ensuring development is well planned, deadlines and dependencies are effectively managed, and high-quality learning is delivered consistently and to agreed timescales. A key focus of the role is to drive continuous improvement across the digital learning production model, working closely with developers and stakeholders to increase development capacity, reduce delivery times and unnecessary rework, and create a more efficient, scalable and sustainable approach to digital learning production.

Key areas of work

• SME content: Review SME content and provide feedback on any gaps to be actioned before the developers receive the materials to work on.
• Digital learning production & QA: Develop short courses in Rise alongside the developers. Review and quality-check e-learning developed in Articulate Rise, identifying instructional, technical, accessibility, content and consistency issues before delivery.
• Production coordination: Provide day-to-day leadership of the digital learning development team, setting priorities, allocating work, monitoring delivery, coaching developers and addressing performance, quality or capacity issues to ensure high-quality digital learning is delivered to agreed timescales and standards.
• Production processes: Drive continuous improvement across the digital learning production model by identifying and removing production bottlenecks, standardising templates, workflows, storyboards, QA processes and reusable assets, and ensuring development processes, documentation and quality standards are followed consistently.
• Project delivery: Own the end-to-end production schedule from approved content through development, QA and launch readiness, planning capacity, allocating developer workloads and coordinating dependencies across LMS, Salesforce, web, accreditation, marketing and other internal teams.
• Team coordination: Support developer recruitment and onboarding, lead weekly check-ins and provide ongoing coordination and support to the development team.
• Risk & dependency management: Identify risks, dependencies and potential issues early, taking action and communicating these clearly to relevant stakeholders.
• Stakeholder management: Work confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders to keep projects aligned, on track and within scope.
• Project documentation: Maintain clear, accurate project documentation and ensure required information is captured and kept up to date.
• Continuous improvement and production model: Embed and maintain our established digital learning production processes, standards, templates and workflows, ensuring the development team follows them consistently. Identify opportunities to improve how we work and support the implementation of practical improvements that increase quality, consistency and efficiency.
• Web content: Support the creation and review of web copy required to support the launch and promotion of digital learning products.
• Salesforce processes: Coordinate documentation and information required to set up Salesforce products and associated processes.
• CPD accreditation: Coordinate applications for CPD accreditation for courses produced.
• PMO & reporting: Maintain project tracking and contribute to monthly PMO meetings, reporting progress, risks, delivery and production performance against agreed KPIs to monitor throughput, cycle times, rework, capacity and the scalability and sustainability of the development model.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Essential Skills & Qualifications: Extensive instructional design and learning design experience, with a strong eye for design and visual quality. Hands-on experience using Articulate 360, particularly Rise and Storyline. Strong writing and creative writing skills. Experience reviewing and quality-checking digital learning content produced by others. Experience identifying and resolving quality, content, technical and accessibility issues in digital learning. Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365.
• Experience: Experience managing e-learning/digital learning projects, with responsibility for multiple workstreams, deadlines and deliverables. Experience coordinating or leading developers or digital learning production teams. Experience managing project planning, coordination and delivery. Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience working independently in a remote environment. Experience in maintaining accurate project documentation and following structured processes. Experience managing competing priorities while maintaining high-quality outputs.
• Desirable: Accessibility/WCAG knowledge. Familiarity with SCORM. Graphic design and/or video creation. Experience with Jira and Confluence. Experience with Salesforce. Experience of CPD accreditation processes. Experience contributing to or reviewing web copy and project documentation. Experience with specific project tracking and web copy requirements.
