Trentham Boat Club is seeking a part time coach for the Men’s and Women’s adult squads. The ethos of the club is to be welcoming to all comers. Whilst we have members who successfully compete at both local and national events, we also aim to cater for recreational rowers. We would expect the new coach to support all levels equally and encourage those new to the sport, who have been through our learn to row programme, to develop their skills with a view to retaining them as club members.

In line with this approach, we would also request that you mentor our volunteer coaches. We are fortunate to have the use of the lake in the beautiful setting of Trentham Estate in Staffordshire. This provides a very benign environment in which to practise rowing.

The position would commence as soon as possible. We are happy to be flexible regarding the number of sessions dependent upon the candidate’s availability. The minimum number of hours we would expect is 11 per week (including mornings at the weekend) but exact hours and times can be discussed. A maximum of 22 hours could be made available for the right candidate.

Recent coaching experience in a club or university setting is desired. Prior to starting work, the successful candidate will have a Session Coach qualification as a minimum (it is anticipated the applicant intends to qualify as a Club coach in due course) and a RYA launch licence. Other requirements such as First Aid, Safeguarding, etc, may be arranged after starting work. The position is on a self-employed basis. Current membership of British Rowing is required for insurance purposes.

Prospective candidates should submit a CV, covering letter together with the names of two referees (one must be rowing related and other from a previous employer or client). Please submit application and/or for further information or an informal chat please contact the club chairman.

Salary: Dependent on experience

Type: Part Time

Application Dates: From Thursday 12th March 2026 to Monday 31st August 2026
