Tyne United Rowing Club (TURC) are now looking to enhance their rowing activities and are excited to find a passionate and dedicated individual to lead the coaching of adult and junior rowing squads and extend the vision to other adult and junior coaches as well. Part of the role also involves supporting their partner school rowing club with coaching needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to make a significant impact on the club’s future and the development of their rowers.

Tyne United Rowing Club (TURC) is a vibrant and growing community of adult and junior rowers who like to develop, socialise and make the most out of our club situated by one of the most famous rivers in England.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement overarching training plans for our adult and junior squads to guide them across the year.
  • Create detailed 2-3-month training plans for crews with specific competition goals.
  • Set objectives for training sessions and oversee their delivery by yourself and other coaches (both paid and volunteer).
  • Collaborate and liaise with lead coaches of the Daytime weekday sessions to ensure a consistent coaching approach.

  • Opportunities to coach on weekday daytimes and evenings and on Saturday and Sunday mornings year-round, giving you a good mix of flexibility and consistency.
  • Additional coaching hours for specific programmes such as Learn to Row and Development courses; Your vision and input will be valued either way.
  • The chance to develop and deliver community and school-based rowing programmes, subject to funding.
Qualifications and experience:
  • A confident and well communicating, people-skilled coach that enjoys developing rowers of different ages, abilities and needs.
  • To qualify for the role, you need to have or work towards: Preferably, a UKCC Level 2 Coaching in Rowing certificate.
  • Ability to coach water sessions from a launch. If you do not have an RYA Level 2 powerboat certificate, you will be required to obtain one.
  • Self-employed status with HMRC registration and valid British Rowing membership for insurance purposes.
  • Valid First Aid certificate and completed DBS check.

The selection process will include an informal interview and a practical assessment at the club. If you are successful, we require the names and contact details of two referees (one must be rowing-related), who will be contacted only after conditional offer.

Salary: £19 per hour, 25 Hours per week with potential to increase to 30 hours. Self-Employed, Part-Time.
