Merchant Taylors’ School Boat Club are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic rowing coach to lead and support our school rowing provision.

This role offers the opportunity to coach senior boys’ and senior girls’ and potentially extend your tenure based on demand. The role is required for term times mainly but will be required during holiday clubs as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • To coach rowing at both the Senior Boys’ School and Senior Girls’ School
  • To coach all levels of rowing and sculling from beginner to experienced
  • Applicants must have a sound knowledge of rowing and sculling with good communication skills
  • Drive the school minibus to our boathouse
  • Attendance at events and races as and when required
  • Attend coaches’ meetings as and when required with the Senior Rowing Coach
  • Maintaining professional standards of attendance, punctuality and conduct with pupils
  • The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks commensurate with the role and the objectives of Merchant Taylors’ School Boat Club.

The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include:

  • The provision of a safe environment in which children and young people feel heard
  • Being aware of the indicators of abuse and neglect
  • Ensuring vigilance in recognising changes in behaviour or mood
  • Reporting safeguarding concerns in line with the School’s Safeguarding Children and Child Protection Policy
  • Attending Safeguarding training and updates as requested by the School

The duties of this role meet the definition of regulated activity relevant to children and an enhanced DBS check with children’s barred list is appropriate.
