We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Rowing to lead and develop our rowing programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of rowing within the school, ensuring a high standard of coaching, fostering a culture of excellence, and supporting students to achieve their potential both on and off the water. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow the school’s rowing programme while maintaining a strong tradition of competitive success.
Rowing takes place on one of the best stretches of the river Thames, with over 7km uninterrupted water between the Molesey and Teddington Locks. Crews launch from the School’s purpose-built boathouse, the Sherriff Boathouse, based in Thames Ditton, opposite Hampton Court Palace, approximately 3.5 miles from the main school site and adjacent to the School’s ‘Ditton Field’ Sports Ground.
The school has an enviable reputation for success in rowing with many students going on to achieve success in national competitions and to secure international vests over the years, and alumni include rowers who have gone on to success at the highest level including Olympic Gold medallists, James Cracknell OBE and Sophie Hosking MBE.
