Join the coaching team at Fulham Reach Boat Club (FRBC) and help transform lives through rowing!

As a Rowing Coach, you’ll be part of a Sport for Good Centre of Excellence, making rowing an accessible, inclusive, and life-changing activity. FRBC provides opportunities for individuals from underserved backgrounds, focusing on youth development and crime reduction – Boats Not Bars. If you’re passionate about coaching, community engagement, and using sport for social impact, we’d love to hear from you!

Currently, we are looking for evening coaches that are confident working with adult groups of a range of experience levels but are also interested in coaches that might want to work at other times too.

Our team of rowing coaches are at the heart of everything we do. They are responsible for delivering safe and enjoyable sessions on the water for all the groups that use FRBC. You will have experience coaching rowing and will have a British Rowing Level 2 Coaching qualification and a RYA Level 2 Power Boat licence. You will have a desire to make rowing accessible and inclusive, and are not afraid to break away from the traditional way of doing things.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, enthuse, persuade, influence, and motivate those around you. You will be able to work on your own initiative, as well as displaying strong team working skills. You will be motivated by bringing new people into the sport, with the ability to remain focused and work under pressure within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe and enjoyable sessions for all users of FRBC, particularly weekday evening sessions for our adult community groups.
  • Ensure that the FRBC Safeguarding and RowSafe policies are always adhered to.
  • Ensure coaching quality standards are maintained for all delivered sessions.
  • Provide a welcoming environment to those trying rowing for the first time.
  • Use our impact measurement tool to capture all required data from the sessions.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in coaching rowing.
  • British Rowing Level 2 Rowing Coaching qualification.
  • RYA Level 2 Power Boat licence.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Resilient, determined, professional, friendly, and resourceful, evidencing creativity and innovation.
  • Able to safely manage sessions on the water, particularly on the Tideway and in the dark.
