We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Junior Squad Coach to join our Leisure team at Enable!

Role Overview:

The Leisure Team are passionate about benefitting the local community through sports and leisure activities. We are experts in our service and pride ourselves on our customer experience and inclusivity through affordable or complementary programmes reaching those that need it the most. The leisure team want to enrich all lives within Wandsworth leading on the needs of the community, delivering programmes that reach out to local places and people, removing barriers and increasing access to activity.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead coaches with managing the athletes within the competitive junior squad.
  • Coach on the junior community sessions which are a key pathway to the competitive squad.
  • To deliver quality sessions following the GB Rowing Team technical model, How much how often guidance, and Rower development guide.
  • Assist with the organisation and running of training camps.
  • To prepare crews and equipment to be competitive at both local and major national events.
  • Assist the lead coach with crew selection.
  • Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people. Always demonstrating integrity and a willingness to attend training as required.
  • Any other relevant duties that the Club & Partnership Liaison Manager see fit.
  • Core hours are Saturday and Sunday mornings
  • Additional hours are weekday evenings

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of coaching young people of different ages and abilities to increase participation and develop pathways for talented athletes to flourish.
  • Experience of coaching small groups through to larger numbers of varied ability.
  • An understanding and awareness health and safety implications of rowing and coaching on the tideway.
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
  • Holds a level 2 NGB qualification in rowing or working towards.
  • Hold a Level 2 RYA powerboat qualification.
  • Holds a valid UK driving license and can commute to various race meets.
  • Holds relevant qualifications to tow a boat trailer.
