Sir William Perkins’s School is looking for a J15 Lead Coach. They will perform a vital role in the development of our students as they transition from their first year of rowing as J14s to competing at the highest national level as J15s.

About the Role

Sir William Perkins’s School Boat Club was the highest ranked girls’ school programme on the National Schools’ Regatta 2026 Medal Table, winning Gold medals at J15, J16 and Championship level. This role is an opportunity for those with a strong passion for, and understanding of, the sport to develop their coaching and squad‑leadership abilities, as part of a supportive and cohesive wider team of coaches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the J15 Squad throughout the season, guiding them to local and national events.
  • Develop the squad’s skills in time‑management, communication and personal organisation.
  • Plan and conduct training sessions, ensuring safety and wellbeing of all students at all times.
  • Coordinate logistics for local and major national events.
  • Maintain exemplary organisational and administrative skills.
  • Support Senior Squad coaching at suitable points during the season.
  • Collaborate with the broader coaching team to integrate all coaches into the weekly club activities.

Qualifications & Expectations

  • Strong passion for rowing and a solid understanding of the sport.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to drive student development beyond rowing skills, including time‑management, communication and personal organisation.
  • Experience leading a squad of junior rowers (preferred).

About the School

Sir William Perkins’s School is a high‑performing, academically selective, independent school for approximately 600 students aged 11‑18 years. The Head is a member of HMC and GSA. It is located on an attractive 12‑acre site on the outskirts of Chertsey, a two‑minute walk from the railway station and very near to the junction of the M3 and M25.
