British Rowing are seeking a collaborative Competitions Support Coordinator to drive innovation, support competition delivery, and help broaden participation across the rowing community.

A bit about the role

British Rowing is a values-driven organisation, proud to lead a sport built on respect, integrity, inclusion, teamwork and excellence. The Competitions Support Coordinator will not only work to support our existing affiliated competitions but will also be instrumental in broadening our competition offering, leading on the development of new formats, in order to open up rowing to more people in more places.

What you’ll be doing

No two days are likely to look the same in this exciting role which will support affiliated competitions up and down the country. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Be the first line of support for all competition emails, ensuring high quality responses with minimal resolution times.
  • Lead on the British Rowing Online Entry (BROE) system, collaborating with IT and developers to ensure user-friendly, efficient functionality for all users of the system.
  • Oversee competition admin including competition fees & payments, results uploads, competition name changes, new competition affiliations, private match applications, date change requests.
  • Manage online competition calendar updates liaising with the National Competition Committee and Regional calendar coordinators.
  • Working as part of the Events and Competitions team to review and develop the overall event offering (competitive and non-competitive) across the sport to make rowing more relevant, connected and accessible.
  • Work with the Membership team to provide a high level of customer service to the rowing community ensuring an excellent experience.
  • Work closely with the Communications and Marketing team to share information surrounding affiliated competitions.

The role will suit someone who is personable, collaborative and ready to engage with the rowing community and contribute to successful development of our competition offering across the sport. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn within this role. In particular, we are looking for an individual with the below attributes:

  • Highly motivated with a can-do attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Understanding of governance and compliance within sports events.
  • Experience in working with digital platforms for competition management.
  • The ability to build and sustain relationships with a network of key people internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task.
  • A willingness to undertake a wide range of duties and work flexibly (including some evenings and weekends).
  • Comfortable working with technology and communicating with IT stakeholders.
  • Passionate about sport.
  • Eagerness to innovate and a desire to learn.
  • First hand experience organising sporting competitions.
  • Awareness and understanding of the sporting events landscape in the UK.
