To support this life-changing work, we are seeking a highly skilled Grants and Compliance Manager to strengthen the financial integrity, accountability, and donor confidence behind our programmes in the UK and internationally.
About the Role
The Grants and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing compliance relating to grants, including associated reporting requirements and financial controls. Working across multiple directorates, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in International, UK Operations, and Fundraising/Grant Management, as well as finance and programmatic teams across the wider organisation. You will play a central role in ensuring that all grant-funded activity is supported by robust due diligence, accurate donor reporting, and strong internal controls. This position also leads improvements to financial compliance processes, helping the organisation continually strengthen accountability and transparency.
What You'll Be Doing
- Overseeing donor compliance across a diverse portfolio of grants and funding streams.
- Ensuring the highest standards of financial controls, due diligence, and risk management for grant-funded programmes.
- Supporting teams across International, UK Operations, Fundraising, and Finance to meet donor requirements and organisational policies.
- Managing and reviewing all donor financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Leading organisation-wide improvements to grant compliance systems, processes, and best practice.
- Acting as a key advisor to programme and finance teams on compliance expectations and donor guidelines.
- Contributing to capacity building across the organisation to strengthen understanding of grant management and compliance.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Strong experience in grant management, donor compliance, or financial oversight within the charity, humanitarian, or public sectors.
- A thorough understanding of donor rules and financial reporting requirements (e.g., institutional donors, trusts and foundations, government funding).
- Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- The ability to build strong relationships and influence colleagues across multiple teams.
- Confidence leading process improvement and strengthening internal controls.
- A passion for the mission and values of the British Red Cross.
