Salary: £12.60 per hour

Hours: Zero Hours, As and When Required

Contract: Casual

Driving: Full UK Driving Licence required held for a minimum of 2 years, to drive a manual gearbox British Red Cross vehicle.

A Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC3) is essential. Additional training across to British Red Cross scope of practice will be provided prior to start details to be given at interview stage.

12 hour shifts working Monday to Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team to support our Patient Transport and Clinical Service team on a casual basis.

A day in the life of an Ambulance Care Assistant:

  • You will work as part of a team responsible for providing patient transport in a safe, comfortable, and sympathetic manner, observing road and driving conditions at all times.
  • The role involves driving and assisting as part of a crew, patients with different requirements based on their mobility classification.
  • You must be able to demonstrate a person-centred approach to care.
  • You will be kind, caring and considerate in nature and work well as part of a diverse team.
  • Your warm, caring nature and positive attitude will bring comfort to patients.
  • You’ll be sensitive when working with vulnerable people and have no trouble going the extra mile to make them feel comfortable, safe and cared for.
  • Your previous customer service experience, as well as understanding and awareness of the differing physical needs of our service users and a genuine interest in their well-being, will help people in your local community.

Our services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and we apply the same standards to our service delivery across the whole of the UK. Our fleet and equipment are comparable with those deployed by NHS services. We’re a close-knit team united by one goal – to make every moment matter to our service users when they need us most.

The role of Ambulance Care Assistant might be for you if you have:

  • A full driving licence which allows you to operate a manual transmission vehicle (please note that, due to vehicle insurance policy requirements, applicants must have held their licence for a minimum of two full years).
  • Qualified to FREC3, essential.
  • You can bring your strong customer service or patient caring skills to the British Red Cross.
  • You will be kind, caring and considerate in nature and work well as part of a diverse team.
  • Enjoy problem solving.
  • Workwear is provided for this role.

Interviews will be face to face including an element of driving assessment.
