Location: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, with travel around the area

Salary: £23,590 to £25,155 per annum

Hours: 35 per week (Service runs across 7 days, typically working every second weekend)

Contract: Permanent

Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (business mileage reimbursed); ability to travel throughout the area is essential.

SSSC Registration: Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is required within 3 months of starting the role.

Join the British Red Cross as a Senior Community Support Worker - working closely with the Service Manager, you will drive service excellence, mentor staff, and ensure every service user receives the highest standard of care. You will also play a key role in overseeing service quality through practice observations, user feedback, and support plan audits. Step up and help shape a stronger, more caring community.

What does a typical day in the life of a Senior Community Support Worker involve?

  • Maximising independence through coordinating care at home.
  • Providing compassionate care in accordance with Care Inspectorate regulations, making a real difference in service users' lives.
  • Collaborating with the team to maintain optimal staffing levels and adapt work plans to evolving needs.
  • Empowering individuals by connecting them to additional resources and services, while also mentoring and assisting fellow team members.

What do you need to be a successful Senior Community Support Worker?

  • Preferred qualifications: National 5 level education, SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, and a PDA in Supervision.
  • Flexible approach: Willingness to work according to duty rotas.
  • Leadership: Ability to take responsibility for the overall running of the service in the absence of a senior staff member.
  • Travel: Ability to travel throughout the area as required.
  • Compliance: Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of starting the role.
