About the Role
The BVCA is seeking a Social Media Officer to join a dynamic communications team working as part of the wider external affairs department. This role is pivotal to the BVCA highlighting key facts that tell the story of private capital's importance in the UK. We are looking for someone with at least 2 years' experience of writing engaging posts across a broad range of social media platforms. Experience of reporting and metrics is also important as this role will require you to see how our social media platforms are engaged with. You will be adept at working with stakeholders to enable you to work across senior management at the BVCA to help raise the senior team's social media profile. A strong relationship builder, you will collaborate with other teams to ensure messaging is consistent and timely and develop timelines that work.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement a social media strategy for the BVCA's external affairs team to raise the profile of policy messages, insights, and activity undertaken to represent the private capital industry in the UK.
- Lead the social media roll out for key moments in the BVCA's calendar including events, report launches and responses to government announcements relevant to the industry.
- Guide senior staff on how to develop their social media profile and proactively identify opportunities to take part in relevant conversations.
- Draft compelling social media posts which convey the BVCA's point of view and how it is representing the private capital industry in the UK.
- Monitor social media trends and political developments to help inform teams across the organisation.
- Track and report key metrics on social media performance (including for senior staff).
- Manage content calendars jointly with marketing colleagues ensuring timely delivery.
- Produce / edit video, audio and photographic content for the BVCA's social media channels, in line with brand guidelines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a social media role with at least 2 years' experience; experience of managing LinkedIn accounts (for organisations and senior staff) considered particularly valuable.
- Demonstrable interest in working in a policy-rich environment.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends.
- Ability to build strong and effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Content creation and editing skills (photography, video, and short-form editing).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Team player happy to roll up your sleeves to support the team if needed.
