This full-time role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Events Manager with 8+ years events management experience to lead a team to deliver the annual events programme ensuring the highest standards of delivery. The team are responsible for the end‑to‑end event management of approximately 60 events annually, which consist of our flagship events, conferences, international roadshows, networking receptions, corporate dinners, half‑day forums, roundtables and webinars. The size of events will vary from 20 to 1200 attendees, and the majority of events will take place in London with some events requiring travel across the UK and to the Middle East, Asia and the USA.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Support the Director, Industry Development with setting the events strategy and calendar of events feeding into event reviews, evaluation of events and shaping new events and formats.
- In collaboration with the Director, Industry Development lead and manage event content, including shaping agendas, strategic speaker management and securing speakers for BVCA conferences, forums, roundtables and webinars.
- Full oversight of the events calendar and project management and successful delivery of all events by the two Event Managers, two Senior Event Executives and Event Executive.
- Responsible for full delivery of the International Roadshow programmes, including the management of GP participants, sponsor relationships and contract deliverables.
- Full oversight and leadership of the project management and delivery of the flagship two‑day Summit by the Event Manager.
- Oversee post‑event de‑brief and evaluation of all events with specific accountability for delivery within budget, to time, and in line with brand and quality standards.
- Oversee the process for inviting and securing speakers.
- Oversight of marketing copy, managed by the commercial team.
- Closely and effectively collaborate on a day‑to‑day basis with the commercial team, membership team and marketing team to ensure event objectives are achieved.
- Lead relationship management of event sponsors and develop sponsorship content and thought leadership in collaboration with the sponsor post contract.
- Attend flagship events, and other events as required, to oversee set up and smooth delivery of events on site.
- Host small events (following presentation training).
- Support the Director, Industry Development and other senior members of the BVCA team with ad hoc duties as required.
- Review commercial financial data in collaboration with Head of Commercial and Director, Industry Development to ensure events are commercially viable and achieving targets.
- Responsible for line management and development of the Event Managers including regular weekly meetings and quarterly, mid‑year and annual performance reviews.
- Support the Head of Commercial and the Director of Industry Development in preparing total event cost estimates for inclusion in each financial year's budget.
- Responsible for budget reforecasting and monthly P&L reports with the support of the event managers and executives.
Requirements
- At least 8 years events experience within the membership or corporate sector.
- Strong content development/production experience.
- Experience building content and agendas.
- Strong project management skills and experience delivering a variety of events end‑to‑end for multiple number of attendees and formats.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build a collaborative and high‑performing team while encouraging a warm friendly culture focussed on achieving high quality events.
- Excellent attention to detail and proof‑reading skills.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
