This full-time and demanding role is an exciting opportunity for a proficient Events Manager with 5+ years corporate event management experience to manage a high performing team to deliver the annual events programme ensuring the highest standards of delivery. The team are responsible for the end-to-end event management of approximately 60 events annually, which consist of BVCA flagship events, conferences, international roadshows, networking receptions, corporate dinners, half-day forums, roundtables and webinars. The size of events vary from 20 to 1,200 attendees, and the majority of events will take place in London with some events requiring travel across the UK.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Events Manager with delivering the events strategy and calendar of events feeding into event reviews, evaluation of events and shaping new events and formats.
  • Overseeing the project management and successful delivery of all events by the Event Executives ensuring events are delivered in line with objectives, on time and to the highest standard.
  • Full end-to-end event planning, management and delivery of flagship events.
  • Responsible for line management and development of three Senior Event Executives and one Executive including regular weekly meetings and quarterly, mid-year and annual performance reviews.
  • Manage post-event de-brief and evaluation of all events with specific accountability for delivery within budget, to time, and in line with brand and quality standards.
  • Provide input to event agenda setting, content and research as required.
  • Collect and collate attendee feedback from each event and produce debrief reports, conduct thorough de-brief and evaluation post events with specific accountability for delivery within budget, to time, and in line with brand and quality standards.
  • Regularly review and evolve processes and practices, managing the team to ensure the event processes are effectively followed and web pages are continuously maintained and updated with accuracy and consistency at all times.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to ensure a comprehensive and timely marketing strategy is in place for every event and ensure the event project managers take ownership for the delivery and execution of the marketing strategy providing support where required.
  • Management of relevant budgets with a focus on keeping costs within budget and maximising profitability. Provide regular updates and financial reports to Senior Events Manager and Director, Industry Development and flag any areas of concern.
  • Attend events to oversee and manage set up and smooth delivery of events on site, while being the main point of contact for any issues as they arise.
  • Assist Senior Events Manager and Director, Industry Development with writing reports and contributing to PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ongoing learning and knowledge-building of private capital industry and BVCA membership.
  • Keep abreast of events industry trends, new venue openings etc.
  • Research new technologies, ie. Event platforms, software etc.
  • Ensure the team are utilising CRM effectively and ensure consistency of data input during the event management process and in recording all attendees on CRM post event.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • At least five years' event management experience within a corporate or membership sector.
  • At least two years managing or overseeing a team to deliver a best in class events programme.
  • Knowledge of private capital industry or from Financial services background would be beneficial.
  • To have organised large flagship events (conferences and dinners).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Effective at building and managing a diverse range of stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple day-to-day tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proof-reading skills.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Professional telephone manner combined with polite and persuasive communication skills.
  • Collaborative and consultative approach; strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Professional appearance and personal skills to act as a BVCA Events ambassador to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work extra hours when required.
