This full time role within the BVCA is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of sales and business development working within or having a strong interest in private capital/financial services. The role is based in London and includes some travel within the UK. Working with the Senior Membership Manager and Head of Membership, you will be responsible for analysing, measuring and improving membership engagement, to aid retention of existing and recruitment of new members. The key focus of the role is to execute the Membership Engagement, Retention and Recruitment strategy with a particular focus on Professional Services and co-ordinating pipeline management across the team. This will involve meeting and exceeding membership revenue and volume targets, identifying and passing on sales opportunities to the events and training teams and networking with key stakeholders to represent the BVCA and its work, including at meetings, conferences, and events.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Senior Membership Manager and Head of Membership to develop and execute an account management plan to increase membership engagement.
  • Administer the production of regular reports on membership.
  • Administer engagement with professional services firms.
  • Co-ordinate pipeline management across the membership team.
  • Work with the membership team to co-ordinate the refreshment of contact data for existing members and potential members.
  • Support the production of regular reporting on member retention and acquisition.
  • Act as the internal lead for internal working groups, and co-ordinate workflows stemming from them.
  • Prioritise member engagement efforts nationwide and ensure members are appropriately involved in BVCA member services.
  • Develop and manage the BVCA’s engagement tracking process by utilising CRM and other sources to track a range of member activity, including event and training spend, event attendance, and committee places, with a particular focus on key events and key member types.
  • Management of BVCA data on the CRM system and working across the BVCA to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Manage a pipeline of potential new members, generating new membership sales and ensuring the BVCA has relevant collateral to promote membership benefits.
  • Manage the on-boarding process of new members to ensure all membership benefits are delivered and that data is collected and fully accurate for the CRM system. Liaise with other departments to ensure all information relevant to them is captured.
  • Manage the annual membership fee renewal process.
  • Work with senior team members to determine appropriate fee structure and manage communication to members.
  • Support the annual budgeting process for membership renewals.
  • Manage the process for member resignations, including gaining feedback and exploring if there is an opportunity for them to stay as members.
  • Manage the process of logging resignations and reasons why they left the BVCA.
  • Support the regional nomination process for the Vision awards, attend regional judging panels and capture judges’ comments on nominees.
  • Support the Responsible Investment Advisory Awards.
  • Support the BVCA’s annual Member Satisfaction Survey.
  • Input into the BVCA’s annual benchmarking of services against other associations.
  • Manage and develop the BVCA Member Directory information collection processes.

Requirements

  • Private equity/venture capital/private credit knowledge is an advantage.
  • Experience of working with firms within the industry, or with other large financial or professional services firms would be beneficial.
  • A proven sales, business development or commercial relationship management track record is essential.
  • Sales and business development/commercial relationship management acumen.
  • Strong relationship building skills and a credible influencer.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to present ideas and concepts to a broad set of audiences.
  • Broad understanding of key Policy areas and why they are important to members.
