Overview
Based at home, with monthly visits to the hub after an initial training period, you will undertake telephone consultations with BPAS clients to provide abortion and Sexual Health information, discuss treatment options and assess medical needs. This is a telemedical role requiring strong clinical judgment and the ability to adapt your communication style to meet each client’s needs.
This role is part-time (20.25 hours per week) over Monday, Tuesday and Alternate Sunday. A detailed shift pattern and salary information are provided below.
Training: You will spend the first 8-12 weeks training within the Telemedical Hub in Leamington. Candidates must live within a 60 minute commute to the hub. Visits to the hub after training will be monthly.
Location: Home-based. Hub: Leamington
Salary: £38,984 to £45,518 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours). All weekend shifts are paid at time and a half.

Main duties of the job
- Obtain a full medical history from the client, including assessment of gestation from LMP and identify clinical factors that may place the client at risk.
- Confirm that the client is sure of her decision to request a termination and ensure that the reason complies with the terms of the Abortion Act.
- Discuss and confirm treatment options with the client where applicable.
- Complete the client’s consent for treatment appropriately.
- Discuss, inform, confirm, and obtain consent on the client’s future contraception choices and provide information regarding access to contraception when relevant.
About you
You will be a registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with a valid NMC PIN and at least 12 months of clinical practice experience. You should be a competent IT user, adaptable and self-motivated, delivering an excellent telephone consultation service to BPAS clients. Strong communication and listening skills with the ability to problem-solve confidently are essential.
Working on your own initiative, you will guide the client through their journey of care with empathy and use your clinical knowledge to explain BPAS services.
