Do you have the expertise to lead Health, Safety, and Environmental practices in a healthcare setting?
BPAS are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager to join us, working full time, over Monday to Friday with a hybrid arrangement between home, Head Office & units as required.
The Role
You will act as BPAS's expert on Health, Safety, & Environmental matters, developing & implementing policies that comply with current legislation & reflect best practices. You'll lead risk management activities, and provide guidance on incident & compliance audits. You'll oversee environmental compliance initiatives & contribute to our ongoing efforts to provide a safe & sustainable work environment. You'll also support the Health & Safety Officer in their apprenticeship, helping to guide their development & ensuring they gain valuable experience in line with their training objectives.
About You
You'll have a degree or equivalent experience in Health & Safety, accompanied by a recognised qualification, with the ability to obtain IOSH membership. Your expertise includes managing HS&E practices within clinical settings, writing organisational policies, & conducting risk assessments. You'll bring excellent problem-solving skills, a strategic approach, & the confidence to provide leadership on safety matters to senior stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
- Develop and maintain BPAS policies in relation to Health, Safety and the Environment that accord with current legislation and meet organisational requirements.
- Provide guidance to the organisation to ensure that practice is compliant with current legislation and best practice and elevate where practice remains non-compliant.
- Manage the Health and Safety Officer and the development of their role and responsibilities in line with their progression through their apprenticeship.
- Ensure appropriate reporting on Health, Safety and Environment at all levels of the organisation.
- Present Health, Safety and Environment information at governance meetings.
- Work with the Corporate Risk Manager to ensure that there is a clear pathway for incidents within BPAS.
- Work with the relevant departments to ensure appropriate risk assessments are carried out.
- Project manage the delivery of ESOS, ESCR and other mandatory reporting.

Further Information
Location: Hybrid working home working with travel to Head office in Leamington spa for meetings & team days when required. There will also be travel to BPAS units nationwide as needed.
Salary: Β£48,366 - Β£62,867 depending on skills and experience
Hours: Full time - 36 per week
Monday to Thursday: 9am - 5pm | Friday 9am - 3.30pm.

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience of working in Health and Safety
- Recognised UK qualification in Health and Safety NEBOSH or equivalent standard
- Membership or ability to obtain membership of Institute of Safety and Health
- Chartered Member of Institute of Safety and Health
Experience
- Experience of assessing and managing Health and Safety in a clinical environment
- Experience of independently assessing risk assessments and managing non-conformances
- Experience of writing Health, Safety and Environment policy at an organisational level
- Experience of working at a management level within Health and Safety
- Experience of maintaining ISO14001 accreditation
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent and up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory requirements and best practice for Health, Safety and Environment as it applies within Healthcare
