As a key member of our C‑Suite Team, you will shape and lead our clinical strategy across nursing, midwifery, pharmacy and multidisciplinary services, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and patient experience. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will play a pivotal role during a significant period of transformation, supporting the delivery of a new model of care and innovative digital pathways that place women and patients at the heart of our services. Working closely with fellow executives, clinicians and trustees, you will help strengthen clinical governance, workforce capability and organisational performance across our national services.
We are seeking a senior clinical leader with strong professional credibility and board-level experience, able to lead complex services through change while fostering a culture of openness, learning and compassion. Above all, you will be deeply aligned with BPAS' charitable purpose and committed to advancing women’s autonomy and the right to choose.
Main duties of the job:
- Be an integral part of the Executive Leadership sharing corporate responsibility with executive colleagues for the development of the BPAS strategy, financial and cost improvement plan.
- Provide strong visible leadership and shape the Clinical Directorate structure to co‑ordinate capacity across BPAS enabling excellent patient choice and care.
- Be the expert voice on nursing, midwifery, and multidisciplinary clinical services within the Executive Leadership Team and at the Board.
- Lead the improvement of clinical outcomes, patient safety, clinical standards, patient experience and clinical productivity, ensuring inclusive compassionate care is provided to our patients.
- Lead the development of Nursing, Midwifery and Pharmacy teams, ensuring high quality patient services with the accountability of key performance standards.
- Be the Executive Lead for Safeguarding and Infection Prevention and Control.

Location: Hybrid – Home working with days in Head Office Leamington Spa and BPAS Units when required.
Salary: ÂŁ125,000 per annum
Hours per week: 36 hours over Monday to Friday. All members of the C‑Suite will be required to participate in an on‑call rota. The on‑call policy and procedure is being reviewed and revised, and will be discussed in further detail once finalised.

Qualifications:
- Full NMC registration and evidence of revalidation.
- Formal management/leadership training or significant experience gained within a healthcare setting at a senior level.
Knowledge & skills:
- Understanding of healthcare planning process and key national reproductive healthcare issues.
- Knowledge of the clinical requirements in delivering NHS–funded and contracted services.
- Detailed knowledge of the regulatory requirements, validation and revalidation of clinical workforces.
- Highly effective communication skills – able to articulate complex issues to a wide range of recipients, both written and verbally.
- Detailed understanding of approaches to clinical and process improvement.
- Able to demonstrate sound financial management skills and understand a business‑centred approach to healthcare provision.
General:
- Able to travel to other sites, and work additional hours as necessary.
- Able to participate in the on‑call rota outside of core working hours.
- Participation in the on‑call rota at weekends and evenings.
- Commitment to a woman’s right to choose abortion.
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience of setting clear objectives with teams, encouraging personal development and addressing performance management issues.
- Proven experience of operating at a board level within a comparable organisation.
- Proven experience of leading a team of senior nurses, midwives and clinical professionals, ensuring effective communication from floor to board.
- Proven experience and ability in managing operational performance with tight financial constraints, demonstrating effective budget management.
- Experience of capacity planning and translating organisation strategy and vision into operational objectives.
- Evidence of successfully leading significant organisational change in developing new models of healthcare delivery.
- Demonstrated experience of building, maintaining, and utilising successful relationships with all staff, especially clinicians, within complex organisations.
- Previous experience in abortion/gynaecology services.
