We are looking for Registered Adult Nurses (Level 1) or Midwives who are passionate about reproductive healthcare, dedicated to giving great client care & who are able to support women and men through their care journey with BPAS.
Based at home, with visits to the Doncaster Telemedical Hub on a monthly basis, you will undertake telephone consultations with BPAS clients to provide abortion and Sexual Health information, discussing their treatment options and assessing their medical needs. Every client is different, and you will need to adapt your style to meet their requirements. As a telemedical practitioner you will build a strong rapport with every client you talk to. Your quick thinking and clinical experience will be essential in determining the next steps for the client.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week over Monday-Saturday. Hours will be flexible between 8am and 6pm. Further details will be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job:- To obtain a full medical history from the client, including assessment of gestation from LMP and identify clinical factors which may place the client at risk.
- To establish that the client is sure of her decision to request a termination and ensure that the reason complies with the terms of the Abortion Act.
- To discuss and confirm treatment options with the client if applicable.
- To appropriately complete the clients consent for treatment.
- To discuss, inform, confirm, and consent on the clients future choice of contraception, and provide information regarding access to contraception when relevant.
You will be a registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or registered Midwife (practising) with a valid NMC PIN and at least 12 months clinical practice experience. A competent IT user with the ability to be adaptable and self‑motivated, you will work to provide an excellent telephone consultation service to BPAS clients. You'll need to have sound communication and listening skills, whilst also being able to problem‑solve confidently. Working on your own initiative, you'll deliver the clients journey of care with empathy and understanding, whilst using your clinical knowledge and skills to provide them with a great understanding of the service that BPAS provides.
