You will spend the first 8‑12 weeks training at the Telemedical Hub in Leamington. Candidates must live within a 60‑minute commute. The role is largely home‑based, with monthly visits to the hub post‑training. As a telemedical practitioner you will provide telephone consultations to BPAS clients, offering abortion and sexual health information, discussing treatment options, and assessing medical needs. Flexibility is a key feature, with a 37.5‑hour week across Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, alternate Friday and alternate Sunday shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain a full medical history, including gestation assessment and risk factors.
- Confirm the client’s commitment to termination and ensure legal compliance with the Abortion Act.
- Discuss and confirm treatment options, gather informed consent, and document consent procedures.
- Provide information on future contraception choices and relevant access.
- Deliver a telephone care journey that is tailored, empathetic, and professional.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or practising Midwife with a valid NMC PIN.
- Minimum 12 months of clinical practice experience.
- Active NMC registration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams) and other IT tools.
- Basic understanding of abortion care guidelines.
- Excellent communication and listening skills, with detail‑oriented administrative ability.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience speaking to patients over the phone in a clinical capacity.
- Gynecological nursing or sexual health, contraception experience.
- Experience with clinical documentation and adherence to guidelines, policies & procedures.
Knowledge & Skills
- IT literacy – comfortable with Microsoft packages and virtual collaboration tools.
- Understanding of abortion care processes.
