This role is on a FTC covering maternity leave. BPAS are looking for a Surgeon to perform terminations of pregnancy in our Peterborough Clinic. This role would be every Thursday. As a treatment doctor/surgeon you will provide safe, effective and comprehensive surgical and medical terminations of pregnancy to BPAS clients. This role is working at BPAS Peterborough with the option to provide services in other areas nationally if you are able. We welcome candidates who currently operate between 13 6 and 24 weeks, along with those who are keen to train and progress towards working safely and competently at higher gestations within the legal limit.
BPAS is an independent healthcare charity which has been advocating and caring for women and couples who decide to end a pregnancy for more than 50 years. We are the leading specialists of abortion advice and treatment in the UK, taking care of almost 80,000 women each year in over 50 clinics nationwide. Nearly all the women we see have their care paid for by the NHS.
About You
With a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent and full General Medical Council registration plus a license to practice, you will be passionate and committed to reproductive healthcare. You will ensure that all BPAS clients are treated in a professional and caring way and have unwavering support for a woman's right to choose abortion. A good communicator, you enjoy building strong working relationships across the business and maintaining such relationships as well.
Main duties of the job
- Carry out termination of pregnancy by the appropriate method to evacuate the products of conception and ensure complete abortion in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Complete client consultation if needed and complete the statutory documentation.
- Assess and provide advice on the management of clients with medical or other relevant conditions.
