Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?
We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team in our London East & Clapham units - working 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday.
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing and treatment, contraception, and vasectomy.
You will be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment and will work in all areas of the unit including theatre and recovery. This role will involve providing treatment and clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone. You\'ll have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills, and be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate and empathetic way.
Main duties of the job
- You\'ll work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies & procedures
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests & provide results & also discuss the client\'s future choice of contraception
- Carefully check for & implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation
- Carry out post-treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client & discussing any concerns
- To care for & support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic
We are also looking for:
- Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills
About You
You\'ll be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife with active NMC registration & PIN. You\'ll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
You will also be comfortable using IT & Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word & Microsoft Teams.
