Overview

We\’re looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the team in our Warwickshire Cluster, working 34 hours per week flexibly over Monday-Friday. As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you\’ll provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You\’ll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.

Responsibilities

  • You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy, and if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
  • Provide information on STI testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
  • Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
  • Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
  • To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
  • Be registered as a Nurse or Midwife (Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife practising) with an active NMC pin; have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare; knowledge of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication & listening skills; be comfortable using IT & Microsoft packages including Outlook & Microsoft Teams.
  • Have sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail.
  • Have Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty (e.g., sexual health, contraception).
  • Have Venepuncture / cannulation skills.
