Overview

Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare? We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team on a part-time basis at our Finsbury Park unit – working 27.5 hours per week over four days.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality clinical care to our clients across BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing and treatment, contraception, and vasectomy.
  • Be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment and work in all areas of the unit including theatre and recovery.
  • Provide treatment and clinical information to clients in person and over the phone.
  • Work in accordance with NMC guidelines and the Abortion Act 1967 and Health & Social Care Act, as well as BPAS policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy and, if choosing termination, meets the grounds of the Abortion Act.
  • Provide information on STI testing, undertake tests and provide results, and discuss and confirm the client’s future contraception choices.
  • Check for and implement procedures indicated on client notes, including administering medication for medical abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
  • Carry out post-treatment check-ups, assess the client’s physical condition and address concerns.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and, in the event of post-treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
  • Care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments, which may involve general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.

Requirements

  • Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife with active NMC registration and PIN.
  • Clinical practice experience of at least 12 months and keen interest in sexual health and reproductive healthcare.
  • Clinical knowledge and experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills with compassionate and empathetic care.
  • Comfort using IT and Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong administrative competence with attention to detail.
  • Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty (e.g., sexual health, contraception).
  • Venepuncture / cannulation skills.

Salary: £42,383 to £48,789 a year pro rata for part-time hours depending on experience
