Overview
BPAS are looking for a Surgeon to perform terminations of pregnancy in our Doncaster Clinic. This role is Monday to Thursday. As a treatment doctor/surgeon you will provide safe, effective and comprehensive surgical and medical terminations of pregnancy to BPAS clients. The role will be based at BPAS Doncaster with the option to provide services in other areas nationally if you are able. We are looking for candidates who operate between 13+6 up to 24 weeks, with a willingness to train to higher gestations.
Responsibilities
- Carry out termination of pregnancy by the appropriate method to evacuate the products of conception and ensure complete abortion in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Complete client consultation if needed and complete the statutory documentation.
- Assess and provide advice on the management of clients with medical or other conditions which may affect the abortion process.
- Be present in the operating theatre throughout each procedure and remain on site until all clients have been assessed fit for discharge from recovery or passed to the care of another on-site doctor.
Qualifications
- With a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent and full General Medical Council registration plus a licence to practice.
- A good communicator who enjoys building strong working relationships across the business and maintaining such relationships.
- Experience of independent practice for any abortion procedures/gestations relevant to the post, or willingness to be trained in-house.
- Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and the assessment and management of complications.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to be proactive and flexible.
- Experience of IUD/Implant insertion along with knowledge of sexual health issues.
- Willing to travel to other locations within the region and/or work flexibly.
