Are you looking for a part-time position? Do you have a passion for delivering excellent care? At BPAS, we have an exciting part-time opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our unit in Cardiff working 8.5 hours every Tuesday. You will assist the clinical team to maintain and improve high standards of client care within the operating department and recovery areas of the unit. You will also carry out assigned tasks unsupervised in support of a registered practitioner and care for our clients.
About You
You will have experience working in healthcare especially in a hospital, GP practice or operating theatre setting. With a positive can-do attitude you will enjoy working as part of a team and be passionate about helping and caring for others. Candidates will need to be comfortable with terminations of pregnancy and seeing this procedure in theatre.
Main Duties of the Job
- Assist with the care, support and observations of the client before and after treatment, and report findings to the Registered Practitioners.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of refreshments.
- Help check and prepare the operating department environment and equipment prior to use, between clients and at the end of a list.
- Undertake counts of swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with another trained member of the surgical team, and assist the surgical team during surgical procedures.
- Understand clients’ individual needs and maintain a helpful, courteous approach to clients, visitors and colleagues.
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Care certificate in healthcare / NVQ Level 3 in health and social care / Diploma in health and support level 3.
- Positive attitude to change.
- Willingness to learn.

Salary: £25,759 to £31,090 per annum pro-rata (depending on skills and experience). (£13.21 to £15.94 per hour)
Hours: Tuesday 08:30-17:30.
