About the role
The Treasure Registrar plays a key role in supporting the administration of finds reported under the Treasure Act 1996. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will focus on the early stages of the Treasure process, ensuring cases are accurately recorded, tracked, and progressed efficiently. This is a varied position that combines detailed administrative work with stakeholder engagement across the heritage sector. You will handle a high volume of cases (approximately 1,500–1,600 per year), helping to ensure the smooth running of processes that can involve multiple parties and up to 30 stages per case.
About you
You are an organised, detail‑oriented administrator with strong communication skills and the ability to manage complex information. You are comfortable working with databases and digital systems, keeping accurate records while managing competing priorities. You bring a proactive approach to communication, confidently liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal colleagues, museum professionals, archaeologists, coroners, and members of the public. Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be key to your success. An interest in British archaeology or heritage, and familiarity with the types of artefacts considered Treasure, would be advantageous.

- Assisting with the preparation and administration of Treasure Valuation Committee meetings.
