British Medical Experts (BME) is a respected provider of medico-legal services, connecting law firms and insurers with leading medical professionals across the UK. As we expand our panel to meet growing demand, we are inviting Consultant Neurologists to express interest in joining our expert witness community.
This is a flexible opportunity that allows you to support the legal process with your clinical expertise while earning a supplementary income. With regular casework and the right capacity, panel members have the potential to earn up to £100,000 per year. We will also support your development through structured training and certification opportunities, in partnership with Bond Solon and the Expert Witness Institute—two of the UK’s most recognised expert witness training providers.
Role Overview
As a member of our panel, you will be invited to provide expert medical opinion on a case-by-case basis. This includes:
- Reviewing clinical records
- Preparing independent reports
- Attending case conferences or court hearings when required
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and clinical data relevant to the case
- Provide clear, impartial medico-legal reports
- Advise on condition, causation, prognosis, and clinical standards of care
- Comply with Civil Procedure Rules and expert witness best practices
- Attend conferences or give oral evidence when necessary
Who Should Apply?
We’re particularly keen to hear from:
- Consultant Neurologists looking to gradually build their expert witness portfolio
- Medical consultants who have written 0–10 expert reports and wish to grow with guidance
- Those with 3–5 hours of availability per month, able to begin within the next 3 months (or sooner)
- Clinicians aiming to reduce reliance on hospital income and diversify their career
- Experts who are actively registered with the GMC (or GDC, if applicable)
