About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Employment Adviser (EA) to join the Member relations team of BMA Cymru/Wales. The Employment Adviser will provide individual case representation, both in person and via Teams, on complex issues to ensure that members receive the best possible individual advice and representation. This will include preparing and presenting cases to employers, internal or external appeal panels. You will also assist with the development and delivery of local BMA campaigns, working with others to organise in workplaces, and support members in undertaking campaigns in their places of work. The role is a hybrid role based a minimum of 2 days per week in the Cardiff office. The role is based in the Cardiff office, and it is a requirement for the successful applicant to live within the region or within a commutable distance. You must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to attend employee work sites when required.
To be successful as an EA you will have:
- Extensive working experience of complex casework, advising/representing employees and/or employers
- Up to date and in-depth expert knowledge of employment law, employee relations, human resource policies, procedures and good practice
- Knowledge of the terms and conditions under which NHS doctors work
- Knowledge of NHS structures in Wales and an understanding of the key issues facing the medical profession in Wales is also desirable
- The ability to manage a demanding workload
- Effective presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal, networking and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent negotiation & influencing skills
- A legal/CIPD qualification (desirable)
