This is achieved through various procedures, processes and audits which include scheduled inspections of properties and review of associated documentation.

Our aim is to ensure safe and responsible management of properties and assets in accordance with the regulatory requirements and industry practice while taking every precaution to ensure we extend the life of assets, operate them safely and maintain them correctly. We seek continual improvement through initiatives, training and streamlining of processes while identifying deficiencies and areas for improvement.

THE ROLE

The Technical Systems Engineer will be part of the central support services team, working in collaboration to ensure that our properties are managed in accordance with regulatory requirements, current standards and industry best practice.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Main Objectives:

  • Audit Fire Alarm Safety Manual Logbooks across commercial and retail assets.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Head of Technical Systems and Managers in daily operations.
  • Ensure correct operation of Fire Alarms, Electronic Life Safety Systems, and occasionally Electronic Security Systems and System Networks.
  • Advise on new property developments regarding system type, equipment manufacturers, design, and inspection upon completion.
  • Travel to remote sites and participate in central support services activities like presentations, reports, costing, environmental & energy management, business case proposals, projects, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit Fire Safety manuals and logbooks, documenting records and defects.
  • Prepare and amend maintenance specifications for specialist sub-contractor contracts.
  • Review system design and propose necessary amendments based on occupier requirements.
  • Assist in minor and major works alterations to System Networks, Electronic Security Systems, and Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Audit maintenance contractors and sub-contractors as required.
  • Support Technical Services Managers with fit-out procedures for Fire Alarms and Security System interfacing.

Details:

  • Contract Management: Attend contractor meetings, inspect Fire Alarm equipment, and review contractor reports and proposals.
  • Compliance: Verify contractor risk assessments and ensure statutory tests on Fire Alarm Systems are timely.
  • Technical Support: Provide day-to-day support to the Technical Systems Department.
  • Design Review: Assist in reviewing and commenting on drawings, specifications, and fire systems design for new properties.
  • Maintenance Audits: Conduct regular audits of maintenance programs and report issues.
  • Documentation: Assist in producing system specifications, contracts, and associated documentation.
  • Reporting: Keep the Head of Technical Systems and other teams informed of new developments or issues.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure engineering standards are met as per company guidelines.
