The Role: The Smart Adoption Manager ensures that British Land unlocks the full value of its digital placemaking and smart building investments. While delivery teams focus on getting technology deployed, this role focuses on what happens next: transforming new capability into usage, customer confidence, behaviour change, and commercial value. You will be accountable for adoption of digital access - MyPass, MyBuilding, and other smart platforms across deployed buildings, building strong relationships with customers and onâsite teams, and ensuring they have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to embed these platforms into everyday operations. You will also shape and define our evolving catalogue of demised and dataâdriven smart services, working with Leasing, Asset Management, Storey and Property Management teams to bring clarity, viability, and commercial insight to new offerings. This role does not deliver technical platforms or own product strategy - instead, it is the bridge between digital capability and real-world operational and commercial outcomes.
- Adoption of Digital Access & Smart Platforms: Own adoption and behavioural integration for MyPass (digital access) and MyBuilding (smart platform) following deployment. Work directly with onâsite teams, Technical Service Managers and Property Management leadership to embed digital access as the default operating model. Translate smart platform capability into dayâtoâday user behaviours, ensuring frictionless and confident usage across the portfolio.
- Engagement & Capability Uplift: Build structured, proactive relationships with customers and onâsite teams (Property Managers, Technical Service Managers) to drive confidence, clarity, and enthusiasm for smart capability. Develop simple guidance, playbooks, escalation routes, and support materials that make digital adoption intuitive and repeatable. Ensure site teams become advocates for digital access and smart functionality.
- Demised & Monetisable Smart Services: Shape and define new smart building service offerings, including demised services, dataâdriven propositions, and pragmatic service catalogues. Collaborate with Leasing, Asset Management and Property Management teams to develop pricing, packaging, positioning, and viability assessments. Capture commercial insight and feed it back to the Head of Smart Buildings and Engagement to inform strategic decisionâmaking.
- Customer & Occupier Experience Feedback Loop: Act as the voice of occupiers and site teams postâdeployment, identifying friction, underused capability, and opportunities to simplify. Provide structured, dataâinformed feedback to influence prioritisation â without owning roadmap decisions. Ensure continuous improvement of smart platforms through clear, factual insights into user experience and operational value.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience driving adoption of digital platforms or technology change in complex operational environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across site teams, property management, and commercial colleagues
- Ability to translate technical capability into operational behaviours and userâfriendly guidance
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels
- Understanding of smart buildings, IoT platforms, or digital access technologies
Desirable Skills:
- Experience shaping service catalogues, commercial offerings, or value propositions
- Familiarity with property operations, facilities management, or occupier experience
- Knowledge of digital access, campus apps, and smart building ecosystems
- Comfort working in environments undergoing operating model or technology change
