The Role
This is a key role within the Financial Reporting team, ensuring the smooth and efficient management of financial processes, with a strong focus on the Group's net debt. This includes internal quarterly reporting, half-yearly external reporting, annual statutory accounts and corporation tax returns, along with supporting the wider Group Finance team. The role offers a great opportunity for learning and development, with a growth mindset and training future talent.
What You’ll Do
- Quarterly reporting - maintain and analyse Group borrowings and derivative schedules, post interest and debt-related journals, calculate key debt metrics and covenants, and assist with the preparation of the management information pack.
- Performance analysis - prepare analysis of actual versus budget/forecast/prior year for net interest to provide insights to the treasury, FP&A and wider finance team.
- External reporting - prepare the Group cash flow statement and net debt disclosures for the annual and interim reports.
- Statutory accounts - prepare statutory accounts and act as a key contact for external auditors.
- Covenant reviews - lead the covenant review process for the financial reporting team, evaluating the strength of new and existing customers, and attend quarterly risk review meetings.
- Tax - support the tax team by preparing the parent company derivatives tax pack, assist with the annual corporation tax returns process and complete the tagging of iXBRL statutory accounts.
- Coaching - provide training and guidance to new team members on financial reporting processes and systems.
- Ad-hoc - produce financial analysis to support management decision-making and enhance understanding of business performance.
About You
- Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent qualification
- Qualified accountant (ICAEW or equivalent) with proven experience in managing complex audits and financial reporting independently.
- Experience working in a top accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and FRS 101, specifically IFRS 9 and cash flow, with hands on experience preparing statutory accounts and working with external auditors.
- Able to work independently, identify issues and develop practical solutions.
- Confident analysing complex transactions and distilling into salient features.
- Ability to communicate confidently across all levels, including senior management and individuals without an accounting background.
- Comfortable taking on ownership and responsibility, whilst being effective working collaboratively.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness.
- Excellent excel and data analysis skills.
