THE ROLE
As the Head of Marketing, you will lead the team to deliver the planning, development and execution of British Land’s marketing, brand, placemaking and advertising initiatives. You will drive successful marketing for the entire organisation, using market research, pricing, product marketing, marketing communications, brand and advertising. The purpose of this role is to create a competitive preference for British Land’s places among our customers across retail, workspace, logistics and residential driving sales and income generation.
Specifically, you will:
- Position British Land’s places to enable the leasing and sales teams to secure new customers in line with our business plans.
- Support our Investment team in strategic divestments ensuring product is delivered to market in line with market expectation.
- Support our Development, Real Estate & Investment teams to define and bring to market a British Land management platform which drives new fee income.
- Act as the voice of the customer throughout the business, ensuring customer needs are prioritised in the design, promotion, and execution of our products and services.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to support our strategic priorities to grow our earnings and position British Land as a leading diversified REIT.
- Team Management: Lead and manage the marketing team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Campaign Execution: Define and execute marketing campaigns, programs, and initiatives across multiple channels, including digital, social media, email, events, and traditional media.
- Market Research: Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer segmentation to identify target audiences, market trends, and opportunities.
- Content Creation: Oversee the creation and implementation of marketing collateral, content, and materials, such as websites, brochures, presentations, and advertisements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (and external JV partners as appropriate) to align marketing activities with business strategies and priorities.
- Performance Metrics: Measure and analyse marketing performance metrics, such as leads, conversions, ROI, and customer acquisition costs, to evaluate campaign effectiveness and optimise marketing efforts.
- Innovation: Drive innovation in our go-to-market strategies, including technology and routes to market.
- Brand Custodianship: Serve as the brand custodian for Storey, enhancing its appeal to both new and existing customers.
- Agency Relationships: Develop long-term agency relationships to consistently produce high-quality marketing products.
- Representation: Represent the marketing team in marketing-related activities, events, and industry associations to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Communications team to ensure external communications and marketing efforts are tightly aligned and resources shared as appropriate.
ABOUT YOU
- Experience in B2B & B2C marketing across a range of market sectors.
- Proven ability to lead a high-performing team.
- Skilled in operating within complex environments, achieving results through influence and consensus building.
- Ability to engage constructively across the business to develop initiatives that leverage collective expertise.
- Capable of simplifying complex concepts to create compelling messages and communications.
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify key actions and tactical priorities.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to run effective meetings.
- Provide support and guidance at both team and individual levels, including career development and wellbeing.
- Role model British Land’s behaviours and values, promoting an inclusive, positive, and collaborative culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Strong understanding of marketing principles, practices, and techniques across digital and traditional channels.
