Team and role overview:
This newly created role is part of the Business Applications team, which is responsible for the overall application landscape within BII. Key to this role is the establishment of a centralised test function within BII to support application development and software delivery across multiple platforms and domains. The role blends strategy and hands-on delivery and will initially operate as the sole tester/test manager.
Purpose: Define, implement, and own a robust and scalable testing capability that lifts delivery quality, reduces risk, and accelerates value across BII’s application ecosystem. Success looks like: a clear end-to-end test strategy and governance, efficient test planning and execution across streams (functional, integration, system, UAT, non-functional), measurable quality improvements, effective defect management, and smooth releases, while exploring if automation and AI-assisted testing would benefit BII.
Responsibilities:
- Define and own the end-to-end test strategy and governance across functional, regression, integration, UAT, non-functional streams.
- Establish a centralised testing function, frameworks, processes, and release criteria.
- Lead test planning, estimation, and scheduling across teams and workstreams to ensure on-time, risk-managed delivery.
- Be hands-on as required and operate confidently as the sole tester/test manager in the early phase.
- Lead test case and script development aligned to business requirements and specifications.
- Establish and maintain regression packs.
- Manage test execution for unit, integration, system, and UAT; ensuring developer testing is completed as required.
- Drive defect management and triage, coordinating internal teams and third parties to timely resolution.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation and AI-driven testing and develop business cases that clearly articulate ROI and value to the organisation.
- Establish metrics and reporting for progress, coverage, quality, defect trends.
- Execute and coordinate regression and upgrade testing for eFront (BII’s core deal and portfolio management system) and related platforms.
- Participate in sprint planning, release management and retrospective ceremonies.
- Coach and mentor teams to build test capabilities.
- Stay current on testing trends and best practices.
The candidate: Successful candidates will have a background in building and leading test functions across complex estates, owning strategy and delivery. D365, BI, eFront experience is nice-to-have.
Essential skills:
- Strong experience in defining and implementing test strategies, frameworks, and processes.
- Willingness to be hands-on.
- Knowledge of automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, TestRail).
- JIRA/Confluence experience.
- Experience working with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Exposure to AI-driven testing.
- Knowledge of data pipelines, data warehouses and Power BI dashboards.
- Familiarity with eFront and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Experience in financial services or asset management.
