Role Overview

The role is to support the delivery of the Tournament overlay across all venues, including the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club (Wimbledon), The All England Club Community Sports Ground (Raynes Park), The Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre (Roehampton), Wimbledon Queue, Hospitality and surrounding areas. The role will most likely commence in April 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery of the Tournament overlay across all venues.
  • Planting and plant management, including feeding, watering, weeding, clearing, pruning, strimming, blowing and hedge cutting.
  • Maintaining health, safety and security in the workplace and complying with company procedures and guidelines, including manual handling procedures.
  • Operating machinery and equipment and assisting in the care and daily maintenance of all equipment and tools according to site rules.
  • Keeping the grounds tidy and weed free.
  • Driving buggies and other required machinery in accordance with site rules.
  • Presenting yourself in clean, presentable AELTC uniform during working hours.
  • Providing flexibility to work across the Horticultural Services Department and Groundstaff Department as required across all venues.
  • Performing any other duties within the department deemed necessary by the Lead Gardener or supervisor.

Role in the Championships

The Horticultural Services Department designs and delivers landscaping in accordance with the Strategic Plan, adding up to 19,000 additional plants to enhance all venues and the experience for spectators, members and visitors. The role is based on 35 hours per week; flexibility is required to meet the demands of the job, including working evenings, weekends and other hours as required by the events.

About You

  • Organised, efficient, professional and reliable with a pro‑active, solution‑focused approach to meet deadlines.
  • Motivated with strong levels of autonomy and the ability to work within agreed guidelines with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build good working relationships at all levels across all venues.
  • RHS Level 2 Horticultural qualification or equivalent.
  • PA1 and PA6 qualification or equivalent desirable.
  • Experience of operating machinery (e.g., forklift, MEWP such as Genie or Scissor lift) desirable.
  • Horticultural knowledge and practical experience gained in a professional environment.
  • Current full driving licence.
  • Flexibility to include weekends, evenings and a different pattern of hours to cover events across all venues.
