Portsmouth Golf Course is one of Hampshire's busiest golf venues with an 18-hole course boasting fantastic views over The Solent. We also have a clubhouse which is home to our Bar & Restaurant area. Portsmouth Golf Course is part of Lex Leisure who operate 6 Golf Clubs within the UK.
Role
Deputy Head Greenkeeper - Portsmouth Golf Course. Full Time.
Duties
- Deputising for the Head Greenkeeper in their absence
- Preparation and maintenance of our 18-hole course, practice areas and general amenity areas
- Assisting with leading and motivating a team with clarity and consistency
- Support in coordinating the maintenance of machinery/equipment/irrigation and service contracts
- Joint planning and decision-making on daily operations and long term strategy
- Delivering high-quality playing surfaces across all areas
- Assisting with managing the machine/equipment/buggy fleet to ensure all equipment is correctly maintained and serviced
- Hands-on involvement in mowing, spraying, irrigation and renovation works
- Coordinating machinery care and safe systems of work
- Help train, develop and motivate staff to continuously develop their technical skills
- Health and Safety management
- Some weekend cover on a rota basis

- You’ll be someone who enjoys working closely with a Head Greenkeeper and contributing ideas

Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Sports Turf Maintenance
- Chemical Spraying qualifications are preferred
- Chainsaw qualifications preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of modern greenkeeping machinery
- Knowledge of automated irrigation systems
- Knowledge of all health and safety legislation relating to greenkeeping equipment and also chemical and waste handling
