Chelmsford Golf Club was established in 1893 and is one of Essex’s premier private members’ clubs. Renowned for its beautifully maintained parkland course and friendly atmosphere, the club is committed to delivering the highest standards of course presentation and playing conditions year‑round. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic greenkeeper to join our experienced and motivated team. The successful candidate will report to the head greenkeeper and play a key role in the day‑to‑day maintenance, preparation, and ongoing development of our prestigious 18‑hole golf course.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Undertake all routine golf course maintenance tasks inline with our turf management practices, including mowing, bunker maintenance, aeration, and irrigation.
  • Operate a range of turf care machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support the implementation of the course improvement plan and participate in project work when required.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional team environment.

Ideal Candidate & Preferable Skills

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in golf course or sports turf maintenance is desirable.
  • A strong work ethic with attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates (advantageous), or show a willingness to gain the qualification.
  • CS30 & CS31 chainsaw licence (advantageous), or show a willingness to gain the qualification.
  • A desire to learn and a willingness to attend training courses.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and bank holidays as part of a rota.
