Job Summary An exciting opportunity to join the Radiology Directorate as a Consultant Radiologist.
The role involves providing comprehensive breast imaging services across multiple sites including acute and community hospitals.
Responsibilities Perform independent clinical breast examination and symptomatic imaging interpretation (mammography, ultrasound, including axillary staging).
Conduct percutaneous breast procedures under ultrasound guidance (cyst aspiration, seroma drainage, FNA, core biopsy, vacuum assisted biopsy, localisation wire insertion).
Manage complex clinical workloads: breast localisation procedures, one‑stop symptomatic breast clinics, symptomatic ultrasound and mammogram reporting.
Deliver bad news to patients and relatives in a professional manner.
Provide general CT and MRI reporting and run an acute CT/MRI list, including on‑call duties on weekends and evenings.
Run a general ultrasound list.
Lead service development, teaching and research initiatives in line with Trust policies.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with the Data Protection Act.
Qualifications capable of independent reporting of CT, MRI and general ultrasound examinations.
Experience in running breast clinics and performing breast imaging within NHS Screening Programme (MRI/VHR).
Experience in breast ultrasound and breast ultrasound guidance procedures.
Ability to supervise junior staff and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and keeping up to date in the specialty.
Strong communication skills, ability to liaise with patients, relatives and clinical colleagues.
Knowledge of NHS management systems, clinical governance and risk management.
Completion of synchronous professional training in core radiology and, where required, acquisition of the necessary advanced qualifications.
Experience with quality improvement projects and clinical governance.
Valid Disclosure and Barring Service check (subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act).
UK professional registration (NHS‑CAREERS).
