The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing body of what many consider to be the best horseracing in the world. It is responsible for regulating and representing the sport, which is at the heart of a major leisure and entertainment sector, a leading betting product and the focus of an important breeding sector.

This is a challenging and exciting position for a new member of the BHA Safeguarding and Human Welfare team to support and administer the day-to-day BHA safeguarding function, ensuring the BHA and British horseracing industry achieves and maintains the highest safeguarding standards.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in similar safeguarding roles, including leading serious and complex safeguarding and human welfare related risk assessments alongside investigations, including experience of the referral process with police and other authorities.

You will have strong influencing and interpersonal skills, a proven ability to work successfully in partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and success in influencing change. You will need to be diplomatic, have a dynamic collaborative approach and a high level of integrity. An understanding of the requirements and challenges around appropriate information sharing for safeguarding purposes is also essential.

Working with the BHA Safeguarding and Human Welfare team, you will be required to raise and support multi-faceted investigations and risk assessments, advising on suitable interim measures and preparing cases for disciplinary hearings.

You will also be required to contribute to the delivery and further development of education programmes, policies, practices, and procedures, specifically the BHA Safeguarding Policy, Regulations and Code of Conduct. You will administer the safeguarding online learning programmes to licensed personnel and stakeholders, coordinate and deliver β€˜in person’ education sessions to participants, capturing data to demonstrate progress.

Championing safeguarding in our sport you will act as the first point of contact for safeguarding and human welfare reports, issues, and queries. You will have the ability to coordinate, raise and lead serious and complex case investigations, while maintaining timely and effective communication with all relevant parties. You will administer and deliver the safeguarding online learning programmes to licensed personnel and stakeholders as well as identifying and developing future programmes.
