Access Officer - Scotland

The British Horse Society is the nation’s largest equine charity with a passion for horses that is backed by knowledge and expertise. The BHS represents and provides a range of services for horse riders, horse owners, enthusiasts and professionals.

Location: Our Scottish Hub is at Stirling, and we’re typically working from there 2-3 days a week with flexibility to work remotely. You’re also welcome to work in the office more frequently.

Hours: Our usual full-time hours are 35 a week – with an early finish on a Friday! For this role it would be beneficial to have a flexible attitude to evening, weekend working and overnight stays.

This full-time permanent role is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to defend, increase and promote our off-road riding and carriage driving and educate all about responsible behaviour.

Requirements:

• Working with other stakeholders to improve off-road riding and multi-use access
• Helping horse riders and carriage drivers find safe places to go
• Educating equestrians in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and responsible riding and driving
• Responding to queries, advising on planning matters and keeping a record of cases
• Being the “go-to” person for equestrian access queries

• You will never be bored – no two days are the same in this role
