The role of Watchmaker Level 2 plays an important role in supporting Laings’ growing service business, our long-term vision of investing in the Laings heritage and keeping unique skills alive.
What awaits you?
- Diagnose wristwatches, identify required parts, and recommend appropriate Laings Service Products.
- Maintain relevant brand accreditations and technical knowledge of brands, models, and service products.
- Carry out complete servicing of mechanical and quartz movements, including disassembly, repair, reassembly, lubrication, and adjustment.
- Perform quality checks on movement performance, cleanliness, timing, casing, polishing, and water resistance.
- Ensure completed work meets all quality standards and service order requirements before submission to Quality Control.
- Maintain workshop tools, machinery, materials, and a clean, safe working environment in line with workshop policies and SOPs.
- Manage service orders, material controls, and accurate progress updates to support efficient workflow.
- Meet productivity and quality targets while maintaining awareness of workshop and business KPIs.
- Handle consumables, chemicals, and machinery in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
- Coach and support junior team members, share best practice, and contribute to continuous improvement of workshop procedures and brand standards.
- Escalate significant issues to line management when required.
Attributes and Experience
- Recognised qualification and/or proven experience as a professional watchmaker servicing mechanical movements.
- Hold at least one watch brand accreditation.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical and quartz movements, casing work, bracelet adjustment, workshop tooling, and machinery.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and maintain high levels of accuracy.
- Experience coaching and developing others.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Word.
- Positive, enthusiastic approach to horology and teamwork.
