We are seeking to appoint a Quick Service Watchmaker to join our dynamic Southampton Showroom Services team. A key role supporting exemplary customer service in Laings’ significant Service business, along with our long-term vision of investing in the Laings heritage and keeping unique skills alive by restoring luxury timepieces. This truly is a rare opportunity, where there may be the opportunity to attend the British School of Watchmaking, to undertake their first ever Watch Technician course. The course will cover hand skills, movement exchange and mechanical watch regulation. Further accreditations with our leading watch brands will follow along with consistent support from our specialist Watchmaking colleagues, both in person and remotely.
Our Southampton Showroom team assist across 38.75 hours per week, 5 days out of 7.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our store leadership team and be instrumental in offering a unique client experience throughout the customer journey.
- Provide an exemplary and personal level of customer service to all clients, whilst ensuring team colleagues maintain the Laings standard of excellence.
- Use understanding of Service Department Objectives and Service Vision to drive business objectives within the team looking for opportunities for best practice.
- Initiate new Service Orders with our esteemed clients instore.
- Visual diagnosis of wristwatches using technical knowledge to assess options for meeting clients’ requests.
- Offer in person estimation on all modern wristwatches using technical knowledge and brand extranets to build personalised service products.
- Clear communication of estimated works in line with company authorised products and quality criteria.
- Support our watch colleagues in store, with technical knowledge and support them with developing confidence when offering client consultation and estimation.
- Undertaking ‘Quick Service’ interventions for local clients in line with skill and accreditation.
- Ordering of necessary parts to undertake selected service along with careful component handling.
- Apply your understanding of watch brands, models and individual accreditation levels.
- Upkeep and maintenance of workshop, workshop machinery and tooling, whilst maintaining a safe environment in line with our Workshop Policy.
- Water resistance testing in line with expected watch performance.
- Chemical handling and machinery usage in line with all Health and Safety criteria.
- Management of work orders to ensure accuracy of updates to service order progress.
About you
- Proven experience in luxury customer service, with a keen focus on quality and excellence.
- Technically minded with a proven track record of working meticulously and accurately.
- Hold a passion for Horology.
- Good dexterity and general understanding of wristwatches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and IT skills.
- Effective time management and ability to prioritise responsibilities.
- Demonstratable organisational skills and the ability to work under own initiative.
