About the role: Part time, 7 hours a week on a 3‑month fixed term contract with the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The role requires flexibility and availability of weekends, bank holidays and rota days.
Responsibilities: As a Sales Assistant you will be at the heart of our retail operation. You will engage with customers, provide exceptional service and promote BHF’s mission; organise and merchandise donated stock creatively to maximise sales; collaborate with the e‑commerce team to boost online sales; and act as a keyholder, keeping the store running smoothly and ensuring a great customer experience when a manager is not present. The role works the till, sorts donations, and may involve moving a high volume of donation bags. It permits a high degree of autonomy and opportunities to build your knowledge of BHF.
Qualifications: 18 years old or older. Previous retail experience not essential; a passion for customer service and sustainability is required. Confident working in a team and comfortable guiding volunteers on the shop floor. Capable of working well under pressure and on your own initiative in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. Attention to detail in everything you do. Positive, creative, confident and customer‑service focused. Comfortable with technology – able to use a till, PC, smartphone and e‑mail with ease.
