Are you a Digital Senior Leader who has previously led a technical function to modernise and deliver a best-in-class digital experience? ? If so, you could be the Head of Software Engineering were looking for! About the role ? British Heart Foundation (BHF) has embarked on an extensive and ambitious transformation of its overarching digital experience, to modernise our estate, improve customer experience, and drive additional support and income. ? As our Head of Software Engineering, youll lead our software engineering function and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our multi-year roadmap, with overall responsibility for all software development, digital platforms, DevOps and QA across the organisation. Accountable for developing strategies, roadmaps and standards which clearly define the best use of our existing and future platforms and execute on delivering these capabilities to the business, youll have direct responsibility for managing our website, intranet and PowerPlatform services. Youll also work with stakeholders across technology to deploy new features and services that deliver business value, guiding and supporting development of our organisational digital capabilities. ? As Chapter Lead for our Software Engineering function, youll provide technical leadership and direction to a team of c.35, including a mix of onshore and offshore resource. Youll be responsible for developing and coaching the team, setting the vision and standards, and delivering capability into all parts of Technology. Working arrangements ? This is a hybrid role, where your work will be split between your home and one day per week, on average, at our London office. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause. About you ? Degree qualified in a technology, computing or related discipline or significant relevant industry experience, youll have excellent technical knowledge of: C# HTML CSS ASP.NET SQL MVC JavaScript jQuery XML SharePoint Mongo DB With proven experience of leading software engineering in a bi-modal delivery environment, youll have demonstrable success in managing build / buy / partner strategies and vendor ecosystems, as well as a strong background in secure, scalable, cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices. ? Youll have strong stakeholder management, recommendation and decision-making skills, able to present to all technical and non-technical stakeholders, as well as a strong depth of experience across technologies including web / digital / traditional / integration / UX / backend / full stack development. ? To be successful in this role youll will have the following skills and experience: Excellent leadership skills, with solid recruitment techniques, having previous success of building a functional team Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal First-class technical mind, effective at simplifying complex problems into component parts for delivery and articulating to technical and non-technical audiences Strong commercial acumen to assess ROI and TCO of technology decisions Strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise and work with non-technical people in a clear manner Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to influence at all levels, including board and executive leadership About us ?
