Our British Gypsum brand is looking for a Technical Consultant to join our specialist team delivering high-quality technical solutions for a wide range of construction projects—from small renovations to large-scale commercial developments, including hospitals, schools and high-rise residential buildings.
About the Role
As a Technical Consultant within our Specification Support team, you will play a key role in advising and supporting customers on the technical specification of walls, ceilings and linings, with a strong emphasis on fire safety, acoustic performance, and structural integrity. You'll be the bridge between our technical know-how and the client’s needs, offering product and system-based solutions and guidance on dry lining systems, plasterboard, and gypsum-related materials. This role is to be based 5 days at our office in East Leake.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored technical specifications for building design requirements, with a focus on acoustic, fire, and structural solutions.
- Respond to project-specific technical enquiries from a wide range of customers; including architects, main contractors, and specifiers.
- Collaborate closely with internal sales teams and support a structured sales pipeline.
- Work across a wide range of projects—from small renovations to major commercial buildings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant products, certification standards, and market regulations.
- Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring technical accuracy and commercial awareness.
What We’re Looking For
- Background in a technical or engineering discipline, such as fire safety, acoustics, or structural engineering.
- Experience in technical specification, project management, or customer-facing roles in the construction industry.
- Ideally worked with or for dry lining, plastering, door manufacturers, or subcontractors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills—able to translate complex technical issues into practical solutions.
- Familiarity with certification processes, testing bodies, and product standards.
- Previous experience in or understanding of specification sales is highly desirable.
