At Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals, we are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to work in our Engineering Team, helping to ensure a safe and reliable operation, enabling us to deliver for our customers on time, every time.
This Maintenance Engineer will be a part of the Engineering Department, which is a close-knit and supportive team. We are a relatively new team and have a mix of skills and backgrounds, and we are looking for a talented and experienced mechanical engineer with welding and fabrication skills to strengthen our group and enhance our offering to the operation.
Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals is a newly formed business within Saint-Gobain, combining the recent Chryso, GCP and Fosroc acquisitions. Our focus is to construct a more sustainable world, and we believe it is our responsibility to bring positive, sustainable impact with every product on every project across the globe.
This is a Monday to Friday role, working a rotating shift of a week of days (6am-3pm with an early finish on a Friday), and then a week of afternoons (3pm-11.30pm, again with an earlier start and finish on the Friday). What we are looking for:
- A minimum Level II engineering qualification, either mechanical or multi-skilled with mechanical bias
- Welding and fabrication skills and experience
- Engineering experience within a comparable environment or transferable skills from a different industry
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and offer solutions
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with production, quality, logistics and management
- Experience in project work, including CAPEX investments and CI initiatives
- Health and Safety is paramount for us; you must be an advocate for safe working practices and able to challenge any risks
What you will be doing:
- Performing planned and reactive maintenance tasks on our machinery including mixing machines, bagging machines, presses etc.
- Fabrication of parts and performing welding tasks where required
- Work on projects to continually improve and future proof our site, including installation of new machinery via CAPEX investments
- Work collaboratively with the wider teams to ensure operational excellence and reliability
- Maintain a safe working environment, challenging risks and reporting as necessary
