Are you an accomplished Shift Engineer with inspirational leadership skills who can plan and allocate work and supervise others? In this role, not only will you be contributing to the development of your team and ensuring safe working practices, but you'll still get the opportunity to work in a hands-on capacity too!
At Saint-Gobain Glass, we're seeking a supervising Shift Engineer with an electrical bias to support the ongoing maintenance, repair, improvement, and development of site plant and services while supervising a team of 2 Engineers. You and your team will be working through scheduled maintenance, responding to breakdowns, conducting installation works, performing continuous improvement activities, and contributing to site projects.
This Shift Engineer role is part of the maintenance team. You'll be the sole electrical engineer when on nights and will work collaboratively with the mechanical engineer as well as the production teams.
You'll be working continental shifts, i.e. 2 days, 2 nights, then 4 days off. Please note we are a 24/7 365 operation. What we're looking for:
- A multi-skilled Engineer with an electrical bias. An apprentice trained Electrical Engineer would be great; however, all routes of qualification will be considered.
- Some knowledge of PLC and instrumentation equipment would be an advantage; however, you will be supported by a site C&I specialist.
- Proven experience within a manufacturing environment working to TPM principles.
- Evidence of working knowledge and experience in the application of safe working practices to include risk assessments, method statements, permits to work, isolation, LOTO, and similar.
- Previous supervisory experience would be a distinct advantage.
- Experience in supporting and applying continuous improvement methodology in a manufacturing environment would be great.
What you'll be doing:
- Ensuring the safety of you and your team, managing the application of safe working practices and organising safety training where required.
- Managing permits to work and safe systems of work.
- The daily organising and allocation of work duties for you and your team, ensuring resource is fully utilised.
- Ensuring the delivery of required preventative maintenance schedules and managing responses to equipment failures and breakdowns.
- Supervising, supporting, coaching, and mentoring a team of 2 multi-skilled Engineers.
- Support the continuous improvement programme (World Class Manufacturing) onsite using relevant tools and techniques. (Full WCM training will be provided).
- With your team supporting site project and installation work as required.
