Shift Electrical Maintenance Engineer at British Gypsum

Overview
British Gypsum is one of 30 Saint‑Gobain brands and a market‑leading manufacturer of gypsum‑based building materials. We are increasing plant capacity at the Robertsbridge site, creating an opportunity for a self‑motivated electrical craftsman to join a highly skilled team. The role involves delivering preventative scheduled maintenance, reactive repairs, and supporting ongoing improvement of plant equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work within a professional maintenance programme to maximise plant reliability.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel.
- Provide engineering support to the shift Autonomous Maintenance team.
- React to plant breakdowns—fault finding, timely repair, reporting of data, and root‑cause analysis.
- Actively participate in a continuous‑improvement culture, driving towards World Class Manufacturing standards.
Qualifications
- Experience of safely maintaining a medium to heavy process in a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Ideally apprentice‑trained with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering and IEE Wiring Regulations – 18th Edition.
- Experience in electrical controls an advantage (e.g. AC & DC drives, PLCs, relay logic, inverters, PID loops, industrial distribution systems).
- Computer literacy – Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of continuous‑improvement tools.
- Organised, planned, and positively focused in day‑to‑day activities.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings and principles and be aware of electrical health and safety issues.
- Maintain high standards of work while following identified standards and procedures.
