At our British Gypsum site in Robertsbridge, set in the beautiful county of East Sussex, we're looking for Production Operatives to work in our production teams, helping to deliver our customer promise and ensuring our products are stored and manufactured to the highest quality. You'll work safely as part of a small team or as an individual to satisfy customer requirements in terms of on time delivery and quality.
The plaster board plant at Robertsbridge manufactures plasterboard from raw materials using semi-automated production lines. We have a number of roles in different areas, so you could be involved in quality checking, manual handling, managing our recipes and processes, and helping to ensure our warehouse is efficient and our products are stored safely.
You'll be working a rotating shift pattern of day shifts 7.00am - 7.00pm and night shifts 7.00pm - 7.00am. In return for your flexibility, we're offering a generous salary plus bonuses, pension, and lots of other benefits too, including healthcare options.
What we're looking for:
- Ideally have experience in continuous manufacturing or a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Be comfortable operating a forklift truck, handling up to 2 Tonne of product in a sizeable bulk and stowing carefully for delivery to our customers.
- Have well developed communication skills and utilise them while on the production line, during handovers, and with the internal communication system (SCADA).
- Own your own development and commit to becoming fully trained on each process, as well as be able to demonstrate contributions you make for Safety, Quality, Business Performance and Ease of Operation.
- Preferably have knowledge of principles such as 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, World Class Management (WCM), etc.
What you will be doing:
- Championing Health and Safety best practice and identifying, reporting, and rectifying hazards.
- Taking responsibility for a piece of machinery for your shift, following Standard Operating Procedures, carrying out autonomous maintenance, and general housekeeping.
- Running regular quality checks through the production process.
- Process management, monitoring our recipe management system.
- Driving an FLT to move and put away product.
- Replenishing raw materials onto the lines.
